I have to say Hamilton/Burlington and Sudbury as the least attractive in Ontario. I really like Fergus and even Wiarton. The latter is like going back to the 50's, no Walmart or McDonalds, unless that's changed since I was there.

he was a devout christian...and i had been yearning for years for some direction.

I sense that you are very young, and when we are young we don't always think things through but go with our feelings of the moment. I agree with cognizant. It may not be what you want to hear though. I sense there was manipulation going on, on both sides. You pretended to be interested in the Org because you wanted him. You weren't truthful to him or to yourself.
We do have to pay the consequences of our actions and you are paying dearly. Learn from this experience. Please don't settle or be in denial; that somehow things will work out. Unless he is willing to change and ask for help he will continue to abuse. With God help it's possible to change but if he isn't willing to change there's nothing anyone can do.
Before my mother got married, a year ago, my brother and I had to have a very difficult conversation with her about our findings on her fiance. I remember her saying that she was praying about it. The thing is I believe that God did give her an answer loud and clear but she didn't want to hear it and married him anyway. She is paying the consequences and I feel for her.
I personally believe that God does come before everything or anyone. It makes for a better relationship with one's spouse and children because you want to please God and His will is that we show real love towards each other.

Never having been a witness I could be totally off base here. First I don't believe in meddling in other people's marriages but when there is verbal or physical abuse it's a different story. My witness mother is going through verbal abuse with her husband and at times he threatens to divorce her! It seems to go with the territory; that many witness men become domineering and abusive.
I get the feeling that you were both very attracted to each other physically; that it's mostly about sex. I could be wrong. I was young once and I do remember but I don't think that in itself it's going to sustain a relationship if other very important things are going wrong.
You say he was shy. He doesn't seem that shy now. Was he acting with you beforehand just to reel you in? Is he feeling remorse for going all the way before marriage and blaming you for his fall?
I personally feel that you really need to think hard about this. Is this the life you want for yourself, for your future kids, for future grandkids?
I suggest continuing going to your church and pray that God will give you guidance in how to deal with this. I do believe that He sometimes places us in a certain situation, not only for own benefit, but maybe even for others who need to see the light and walk away from this coercive (what I believe) cult. We may not see it as a benefit now and I'm sure there will be many here that will think that being in a cult was absolutely no benefit to them, and they may be very well be right. But we don't always sense God working in our lives and possibly after it's all over you might see this. When I say this I'm not referring to those that have been so traumatized by the Org that it's very difficult to get beyond it.
Take care

BFD: Sorry to see you go but maybe someday you will come back to visit. All the best to you.
Now if you're going to play this song you might as well have the original. The second link is funny.

beksbk: just a quick response. I enjoy listening to different versions so hopefully I didn't give you the impression that I knew which ones were better. It all is a matter of taste and hopefully we're sensitive to that. Sorry if I did that. Through this post I'm listening to things that I ordinarily might not listen to so I thank everyone. Have a good morning!

sweetstuff: It's more than 10 years old I think so I'll let you get away with it and say it's classic. When I think of Enya I think of Sinead O'Connor who also has a great voice. She was interviewed recently and said that after going through all the difficulties she found out that she has bi-polar.

beksbks: great selection of music. I do love Monserat Cabelle's version of Casta Diva.
Rene Fleming and Cecilia Bartoli's version of Mozart: both great singers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLtqZewjwgA&feature=related
O mio Babbino caro: I don't know if anyone does this as well as Kiri te Kanawa. I love Monserat Cabelle but she doesn't do this piece justice from what I have found.
Cecilia Bartoli - Vivaldi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jr3WNaMJMA8&feature=related
This next one is absolutely great, even though it's really funny it shows what a great voice she has. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQADns6t7TM&feature=related

Eryn: that piece was really nice. I like Dvorak's Cello Concerto. This stretches me. Some stuff I rarely listen to. Like this next piece. Believe it or not I wanted to use the following when I was very young at my wedding, a Grand Entrance I would say.

thought you might like this Cello piece. It's funny and he does quite a good job I think.

beksbks: You're the one that got me started into listening to Opera today. I'm going to listen to your selection as soon as I post these.
freydi: that video always brings a tear to my eye.

Hi Grace, I don't know what the problem would be. Are you having problems with all the links?
I know the next three won't be favoured by most posters but hopefully a few, like me,may enjoy them.
Montserrat Caballé: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIQQv39dcNE&feature=related
Marianne Anderson Brahms Alto Rhapsody (her octave range is amazing to me)
